🌽 What is Corn?

Corn is the network built for BTCFi.

Powered by Arbitrum and integrated with Coinbase and LayerZero, Corn offers Bitcoin holders fast, easy, and secure access to the most innovative varied financial markets on the planet: the EVM’s decentralized finance. Using $BTCN, a hybrid tokenized Bitcoin, as its gas token, Corn introduces the Bitcoin Clearing House — a mechanism inspired by MakerDAO’s Peg Stabilization Module (PSM). This swap facility offers a secure and transparent way to unlock Bitcoin’s full potential, not only as the pristine store of value that Satoshi envisioned, but also the yield-generating asset hodlers can finally put to work.

As one of Babylon’s first Bitcoin-Secured Networks (BSNs), Corn creates a natural sink for BTC LST liquidity. This synergy positions Corn as the keystone of BTCFi, seamlessly merging Bitcoin’s unmatched security and liquidity with the innovation happening in DeFi. Bitcoin is the Gas Token: $BTCN​

Corn’s innovative implementation of a 1:1 pegged, hybrid tokenized Bitcoin, also known as Bitcorn ($BTCN), allows millions of BTC hodlers (individuals and institutions) to finally put their holdings’ value to work. By using BTCN as the gas token, Corn seamlessly bridges Bitcoin and Ethereum, unlocking BTC’s utility within the world’s most dynamic financial environment: Ethereum, its L2s, and the EVM more broadly.

BTCN is backed 1:1 by BTC through $cbBTC and $wBTC, enabled by the Bitcoin custody provided by Coinbase and BitGo, two of the industry’s most trusted custodians. It introduces a flexible minting design that anticipates the evolution of decentralized Bitcoin storage solutions and bridges — and positions BTCN to grow and adapt alongside it.

Why Corn? Why Now?​

The overreliance on short-term incentives that fail to create lasting ecosystems has typified the crypto industry. Networks often rely on short-term grants that temporarily attract builders and liquidity, only for them both to vanish when the rewards run out. The core issue is misalignment between users, builders, and liquidity providers.

Corn solves this with the popCORN System, a mechanism that aligns incentives around long-term success for each of these groups by giving individual $CORN holders the power to vote (or delegate votes) to decide which applications on the network receive yield. Inspired by the veTokenomics pioneered by Curve Finance, yield (denominated in both $BTCN and $CORN) will be distributed to protocols selected by $CORN stakers – allowing them to direct rewards toward projects who add the most value to the network and who align with the collective long-term vision of BTCFi.

Additionally, $CORN holders will have the opportunity to trade incentives offered by protocols building on the network in exchange for their $CORN votes. This market ensures that projects can actively compete for yield, attracting long-term liquidity and users, while $CORN holders benefit from additional incentives and the ability to monetize their voting power.

Beyond incentives, Corn offers Bitcoin-backed security, native cross-chain interoperability (via LayerZero), and a Bitcoin-focused infrastructure through the Bitcoin Clearing House and BlueCorn. Corn remains laser-focused on making Bitcoin the most dominant and liquid asset in DeFi.
